People say that one of the biggest problems of living in the Bay Area is traffic — just think about highways 101, 280, and 880, which are often filled with cars during rush hours, causing them to crawl as slow as 5 miles/hour on weekday mornings and afternoons.

On the contrary, at certain times of the day, these highways become so empty that cars can zoom by at extremely high speeds. I experienced this firsthand while driving on 280 the other day, as most of the cars were going at a speed of 75mph (the speed limit is 65mph), and some were even flying by even faster.

Assembly-member Laura Friedman of Glendale is trying to introduce a bill that would fine anyone driving 11 mph over the posted speed limit a minimum of $50. The faster you go, the higher the fine you receive.

This could potentially lead to a significant bill for drivers, considering how people normally drive on a rather empty freeway.

I would like to see if Guide & Buy has anything to recommend, so that I don’t drive too fast on the road.

This could be big enough for me to see my speed, and to make sure I don’t drive too fast in order to avoid the bill.
